Synthetic rope vs steel cable: steel cable is cheaper, but it can make a vehicle winch up to 10 kg heavier. Synthetic rope is easier and safer to handle, and the winch is lighter, but more expensive.
Voltage: both 12 V and 24 V models are available.
Electric or hydraulic winch: A hydraulic winch is a good choice if the vehicle already has a hydraulic drive or if a more reliable solution is needed. An electric winch is easier to install, but does not have the advantages of a hydraulic winch in terms of durability. For example: the circulating hydraulic oil also cools the winch itself, there are no surprises with oxidized contactors and stuck electric motor brushes.
