The rod is low.

The bottom of the back is the first thing that gets hit on a rocky trail. The 4 mm steel cover absorbs the impact and the pole stays straight. A small part, but a bent pole can ruin a hike pretty quickly.

The finish includes zinc powder primer, shot blasting and epoxy primer, topped with RAL 9005 matte black fine-structure powder paint. The bolts are stainless, so there are no rust streaks.
